Then and now

In my recent visit to my mom, I was walking down the long hallway  when my eye spotted  a framed charcoal drawing of a lady in a long black dress. I looked closer and found my mom's initials. I asked my brother about it. He found it not too long ago, along with a few other paintings and drawings of hers. My mamma used to draw and paint and she used to enjoy it a lot. My mamma used to enjoy many activities but life changed her. It saddens me deeply to see that she lost interest in many many things in life, while she still is in her seventies. A few days later, I brought a drawing pad and charcoal pencils and sat  on one side of the living room where she was. I pulled a table and started drawing a random mosaic design . What are you doing she asked? I am drawing. Would you like to join me? Me???? nooooo. Why not? I handed her a paper and a charcoal pencil that used to be her favorite. She drew an incomplete face in a rush and gave it back to me ...

Dull to summery fresh

In an hour, I gave my old ugly stools a facelift. Now they are ready for the summer and so am I.

Assembly line

A slow Sunday afternoon. The background color is in memory of a wall I painted last week and looked beyond  striking bright. On canvas, the same color is a whole different story. The wall is saved by an eggplant color and  double the work but everyone is happy and I a m happy with my little spontaneous snail. The snail added a last touch to my assembly line that turned a white wall into an eclectic mini art gallery.

Cultural anthropology

It is a mixture of brass, pottery and wooden stand from eclectic parts of the world with a twist (that's my twist) on the traditional dark brown color of the legs. When you have elements from Turkey, Mexico, Lebanon, Thailand and the US, all in one display, that's definitely cultural anthropology.

Heart of Gold staying still

I was very happy to get a few intensily good and colorful suggestions for a name to my untitled painting. I am  always amazed by how each one of us sees the same thing with a different eye and meaning. This is art after all, open to all kind of interpretations. Thank you for being part of this impromptu idea and thank you for being part of my life. Here is a mix of  funny, serious and profound ones: Tourbillon  (Diana and Rania) Tunnel vision (Whitney) Eggs over easy (Fadi) Spiral of life (Gulli) Sunny side up (Gunilla) Turmoil with a heart of gold (Paula) One beautiful eye (Michelle) Mélancolie (Nayla) Lost  Staying centered in the middle of the storm  Space dust  Eye of the storm (Paula) Hope Light "Heart of Gold staying still" is the one you inspired.

Can you give me a title?

When I worked on this painting, it reflected  my state of mind. At this moment, I can't come up with a name for it. If anyone is inspired and has a name for it, send it to me and I will post it, with your name if  you would like me to. (email is through my blog profile or  friends and family know how to reach me)

Why

Many questions remain unanswered.
